EveryNest

Parental Consent Notice

Version 1.0 · Effective 10 August 2026

About this document

This document explains how EveryNest asks for and records parental consent when a Parent adds a minor (a Child or Teen) to their household. It also reproduces the notice text that appears in the app at the moment a Parent creates a Child or Teen account.

If you are a Parent using EveryNest, you'll see the notice text in section three below when you tap "Add family member" for a Child or Teen, or when you generate an invite code for a Teen. It appears alongside a tick box and cannot be skipped. Reading this document in advance is not required, but you are welcome to.

If you are a regulator or a family member wanting to understand what parental consent EveryNest captures and how, this document is written for you.

The consent we ask for

When a Parent adds a minor to their EveryNest household, we ask the Parent to confirm two things:

This consent is captured per minor. A Parent adding two children ticks the consent tick box twice, once for each child. The consent is recorded with the specific Parent's identity, the specific minor it applies to, the date and time, and the versions of the policies the Parent was shown.

Under GDPR, our primary lawful basis for processing a minor's data is the performance of the household-service contract that the Parent has with us. Parental consent recorded on this notice operates as the parental safeguard for that processing. Regardless of whether GDPR Article 8 would require parental authorisation in every circumstance, EveryNest requires it before any Teen or Child account is created.

The notice text a Parent sees in the app

The text below is displayed to the Parent in the app at the moment they add a Child or Teen, or generate a Teen invite. The Parent's chosen name for the minor is shown in place of [DISPLAY_NAME], and the selected role (Child or Teen) is shown in place of the role placeholder.

Before we set up [DISPLAY_NAME]'s account

A few things to know — and to consent to — before we add [DISPLAY_NAME] as a [Child / Teen] in your household.

What we collect about [DISPLAY_NAME]

For a Child (7–12) account, we collect:

We do not collect their real name (unless you put it in the display name), email, phone number, address, photo, location, or contacts.

For a Teen (13+) account, we additionally collect:

Why we collect it

We use [DISPLAY_NAME]'s information only to run EveryNest for your family — sharing tasks, calendars, lists, and rewards inside your household.

We never:

Who can see [DISPLAY_NAME]'s information

Only members of your household. EveryNest households are completely separated — no other family, and no member of the public, can see [DISPLAY_NAME] or anything they do in the app.

As the Parent, you can see everything [DISPLAY_NAME] does in the app. You can edit or delete their account at any time from the Family Members list in Settings.

Your responsibility as the parent

By consenting on this screen, you confirm that:

How to change your mind

You can withdraw this consent at any time. Open Settings, and in the Family Members list find [DISPLAY_NAME], tap the three-dots menu next to their name, choose "Delete member" and confirm by tapping "Remove Member" in the dialog. [DISPLAY_NAME]'s member record is removed immediately. Records of activity they contributed to the household (tasks they completed, points earned, calendar events they created, shopping list items added) remain associated with the household as part of its shared history. If you'd like these removed too, contact hello@everynest.app.

You can also export everything we hold about [DISPLAY_NAME] from Settings → Your Data.

The legal basis

EveryNest processes [DISPLAY_NAME]'s data in order to provide the household service you have asked us to operate for your family. Under EU and UK data protection law, the primary lawful basis is the performance of the household-service contract, and the consent you record on this screen authorises the inclusion of [DISPLAY_NAME] in that household service. Regardless of whether GDPR Article 8 would require parental authorisation in every circumstance, EveryNest requires explicit parental authorisation before any Teen or Child account is created.

For full detail, please read our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.

The consent tick box

☐ I confirm I am [DISPLAY_NAME]'s parent or legal guardian, and I consent to EveryNest collecting and using their information as described above and in the Privacy Policy.

What happens when a Parent taps the consent button

When the Parent ticks the box and taps the action button ("Add Member" or "Generate invite code"), EveryNest creates the member record (or the invite record) and writes a corresponding consent record. The consent record captures:

If the consent record cannot be created for a technical reason, the member creation is reversed so a minor is never left in the household without a corresponding consent record.

For Teen invites, when the Teen later accepts the invite, the consent record is linked to their new member record.

How a Parent can withdraw consent

A Parent can withdraw consent for any minor in their household at any time by deleting that member from the Family Members list in Settings. The specific in-app steps are described in the notice text above.

Withdrawing consent removes the minor's member record immediately. Records of activity the minor contributed to the household (tasks completed, points earned in the household ledger, calendar events created, shopping list items added) remain associated with the household as part of its shared history. A Parent who would like these removed can contact hello@everynest.app.

The consent record itself is retained after withdrawal — see the next section.

How long the consent record is kept

The consent record is preserved for as long as the linked minor's account exists, plus a further six years after the minor's member record is deleted.

The six-year post-deletion retention is for legal defence and compliance purposes only. It allows EveryNest to demonstrate, if asked by a data protection authority or in the context of a legal claim, that valid parental consent was captured at the time we processed a specific minor's data. When the minor's member record is deleted, the pointer from the consent record back to the specific member is broken; the rest of the consent record — the consenting Parent's identity, the timestamp, the policy version, the age band — is preserved intact.

This retention is described in full in our Privacy Policy retention schedule.
